The Palestine Youth Action Center for Community Development (LAYLAC) is a youth action center for community development in Palestine. The youth sector has been systematically marginalized from the process of addressing the issues Palestinian refugees face. LAYLAC works to fill the gap of local government and local NGOs for the need of a youth organization that carries out the responsibilities of mobilizing the youth sector and empowering it to advocate for its cause.

Within the Dheisheh Camp, LAYLAC seeks to organize and execute educational programs for the children and youth of the community. The workshops will serve as a form of education for the children and youth to learn about history, political culture, volunteerism and political future of Palestine and it plans to do with educational art. Throughout this first year of funding by Martín-Baró Fund, LAYLAC seeks to have 15 to 25 children be a part of the workshops that are set to take place at least twice a month, depending on the social and political events surrounding the community. In the workshops, the organization aims to create a safe place for the Palestinian youth to be able to talk about and discuss present day social and political issues that affect them specifically. LAYLAC’s goal is to provide tools for discussing and coping with mental health and creating safe avenues for expression within all the participants.
